It is for the sake of all of the involved parties who attend the venue later. And if you are planning to go to the venue on the big day, don’t overlook this important information.

As regards to the upcoming event, the measures will be more significant in order to give layers of protection to all people. The organizers also emphasize the importance of the players’ participation in abiding the rules. The punishment includes the disqualifications from the future tournaments and even investigations.

Training is also limited in time and extent as the part of the good measurements. The players will only bring two entourages in their trip: coach and physio. The police escort will help transfer them from and to the airport and hotel. There will be quarantines in the specific rooms. ALthough this number seems fewer than before, we cannot neglect the fact that it can be one of the biggest crowds ever since the Covid-19 pandemic. Australian Open not protected by pandemic insurance Next year’s

July 2, 2020 by Tyler Dana Leave a Comment

Tennis Australia won’t be able to draw on pandemic insurance coverage for January’s Australian Open if the COVID-19 crisis continues to wreak havoc on how sporting bodies run major events.

The governing body took out insurance to protect itself from the enormous financial hit a pandemic would inflict on its marquee event, but the policy is expiring. Such coverage is rare for major sporting events but Wimbledon and the Australian Open took out the preventative measure.Tennis has been hard hit by the coronavirus pandemic with the ATP and WTA tours stopped in their tracks by the global outbreak early in their seasons in March. The sport’s most iconic event, Wimbledon, was cancelled meaning London’s famous grass courts are sitting idle in July for the first time since 1945.

Tennis Australia confirmed it was trying to renew its insurance for the Australian Open but that “pandemic coverage will not be viable to include for 2021”.

“Although we were able to have pandemic coverage as part of our policy over the past few years, the current situation with COVID-19 makes it prohibitive going forward, certainly in the short term,” a spokesperson said.

Despite the severe impact of coronavirus on the tennis calendar, three of the four majors are set to take place in 2020. The US Open is keeping its regular spot in the calendar in late August, albeit with strict biosecurity measures in place and the potential absence of some of the world’s best players. The French Open will proceed afterwards, playing out in the European autumn instead of its normal slot in spring.

Even though Wimbledon’s losses will be offset by its existing pandemic policy, organisers have confirmed they also will not be able to source similar coverage next year.

“In the immediate aftermath you can’t get insurance but fairly soon after that, you can start to get insurance again, the market returns. So there won’t be insurance next year, but just because we’ve made one claim it won’t affect us in the long term,” All England Club chief executive Richard Lewis told London’s Daily Mail.

It’s understood Wimbledon has been paying in the range of $3 million per year since the 2002 SARS outbreak. It’s believed the tournament stands to recoup more than $200 million under the policy, but the event will incur various losses, including lost income from broadcast rights holders.

“I have seen speculative figures and I don’t recognise any of them,” Lewis said.

“In terms of what it (the policy) covers – ticket refunds, operational costs. One of the things you have to do when you trigger an insurance claim is minimise your loss, so from the beginning of April we’ve had to make sure we didn’t spend money unnecessarily, on contractors and that sort of thing.”

The reluctance of insurers to offer pandemic coverage comes after Lloyd’s of London estimated that insurers worldwide will hand over $100 billion in pay-outs this year, including for cancelling sports, music and industry events.

Barty Rublev win Adelaide Titles of Australian Open

January 19, 2020 by Tyler Dana Leave a Comment

ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) — Top-ranked Ash Barty has fine-tuned for the first tennis major of the season by winning her first title on home soil with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over No. 24-ranked Dayana Yastremska in Saturday’s Adelaide International final.

The French Open champion had reached finals in Australia before, finishing runner-up twice at the Sydney International after losses to Angelique Kerber in 2018 and Petra Kvitova last year.

She’s now the first Australian woman to win a tour-level title at home since 2011.

Andrey Rublev became the first man in 16 years to win two titles in the first two weeks of the season when he beat Lloyd Harris 6-3, 6-0 in Adelaide to follow up on his victory in Doha.

Dominik Hrbaty won the Adelaide and Auckland titles in 2004 before the Australian Open.

Red More : How to Watch Australian Open 2020 Live Stream Online

“I was not thinking about (the record) but it’s an amazing feeling,” Russian Rublev said. “If you talk about results, of course this is the best I have ever done.”

Barty conceded just two points on serve during the first set, breaking the 19-year-old Yastremska’s serve in the third and seventh games.

Yastremska struggled against Barty’s backhand slice, and changes of pace and height on the ball.

Barty broke to open the second set but Yastremska rallied to win the next three games, and had two break point chances in the eighth game.

The home favorite saved both of those to level at 4-4 and then broke Yastremska’s serve in the 11th game and served out.

“This is incredible. Great start to the year,” Barty said. “I definitely feel the love out here. I love playing in Australia. I love playing at home.

“It was nice to get the ball rolling this week — I can’t wait to get started in Melbourne on Monday.”

Barty’s next match will be on Rod Laver Arena on the first night of the Australian Open against Lesia Tsurenko. Her run to the quarterfinals at Melbourne Park last year was Barty’s best run yet at her home championship. She followed that up by winning at Roland Garros for her first major title and closed the 2019 season with victory in the WTA Finals.

Yastremska, seeded No. 23, will face Slovenian qualifier Kaja Juvan in the first round.

Breaking Down Men’s Draw for Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal Australian Open 2020

January 17, 2020 by Tyler Dana Leave a Comment

Roger Federer will open his 2020 Australian Open bid against Steve Johnson, while Rafael Nadal will take on Hugo Dellien in the first round.Reigning champion Novak Djokovic, who could meet the former in the semi-finals, begins his defence against Jan-Lennard Struff.

Here’s the complete men’s draw, courtesy of Record’s Jose Morgado:

Federer, 38, is bidding for his seventh title in Melbourne and 21st Grand Slam overall. He won back-to-back Australian Open titles in 2017 and 2018 before a fourth-round exit at the hands of Stefanos Tsitsipas last year.

Tennis writer Gaspar Ribeiro Lanca shared his potential path to this year’s final:Federer has a 2-0 head-to-head record against Johnson and won all three of his meetings with Filip Krajinovic, but Hubert Hurkacz could prove a little tricky in the third round.

The 22-year-old hasn’t made it past that stage in a Grand Slam before, but he beat world No. 5 seed Dominic Thiem at the ATP Cup earlier in January, as well as picking up a further four wins over top-10 ranked players last year.

Federer enjoys a 7-1 record against potential fourth-round opponent Grigor Dimitrov, but the Bulgarian won in their most recent encounter, in the quarter-finals of the U.S. Open last year.

If the veteran can navigate those tests he’ll be rewarded with what should be a straightforward quarter-final against Matteo Berrettini or Fabio Fognini. He’s never dropped a set in a combined six meetings with the two Italians.

Naturally, things are set to heat up in the final four, where he’ll likely face either Djokovic or Tsitsipas, who knocked him out last year.

Seven-time Australian champion Djokovic will be the favourite in his potential meeting with the Greek, but they have an even head-to-head record in four meetings. Notably, Tsitsipas won on both occasions when they’ve played one another on hard court outdoors.

As for Nadal, he won his sole Australian title in 2009. He has since reached four finals but lost on each occasion, twice to Djokovic and once apiece to Federer and Stan Wawrinka.

The 33-year-old will equal Federer’s record of 20 Grand Slams if he can put an end to that losing run in Melbourne.

Despite Federer and Djokovic being on the other side of the draw, it could prove a difficult route for the world No. 1 after the early rounds.

The Spaniard has never met Dellien, and he’s unlikely to have much trouble against Federico Delbonis, Joao Sousa or compatriot Pablo Carreno Busta. He’s 3-0 against the first two and 4-0 against the latter.

The fourth round could be tricky if he faces Nick Kyrgios, though. Nadal has dropped just one set in seven matches against Karen Khachanov, but he only just has the edge over Kyrgios with four wins from seven meetings.

Nadal and Kyrgios met twice in 2019, winning once apiece.

No. 5 seed Thiem and No. 4 seed Daniil Medvedev could then await in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively.

Nadal and Thiem have played one another 13 times, with all but one of their matches being on clay, and the latter has four wins. Nadal won their only hard court meeting at the U.S. Open in 2018, but he needed five sets to beat the Austrian, who bagelled him in the opening set.

The 19-time Grand Slam winner also needed five sets to beat Medvedev in the final at Flushing Meadows last year. It was one of six consecutive finals the Russian made in 2019, and his only defeat in five matches at the ATP Cup earlier this month was against Djokovic, so he’s in good form.
